Hi, I’m Vivian — a mum of three, a lifelong dog lover, and the founder of Barkssie.
Growing up, our family had two beautiful dogs who were with us for 14 and 12 years.
They were a big part of my childhood and ever since, I’ve dreamed of having a dog of my own one day.
I Kept Waiting… Until I Didn’t
Life got busy. With three young kids, I kept putting the dream on hold telling myself I’d wait until things slowed down.
But then a friend shared how hard it was to find a harness that didn’t go over her dog’s head.
That small frustration planted a seed… and I couldn’t shake the thought.
From a Need to a New Beginning
In Australia, there were so few stylish, non-overhead options. I realised I wasn’t the only one looking for something better, something gentler for dogs and more practical for everyday life.
That’s when the idea for Barkssie truly began.
And Then Came Latte
Not long after, we brought Latte into our family — a sweet Cavoodle who instantly stole our hearts.
He reminded me why I loved dogs so much in the first place. Barkssie became my way of blending that love with thoughtful design for dogs, and for the people who walk beside them.
